Kenyan Muslim Soldiers in DRC Donate to Mosque, Strengthening Community Ties (2025)

A Heartwarming Display of Brotherhood: Kenyan Muslim Soldiers in DRC

In a powerful demonstration of unity and faith, Kenyan soldiers serving in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have shown that their commitment extends beyond the battlefield.

On November 13th, 2025, a special event took place at Masjid Riyaadha in Beni Town. Kenyan Quick Reaction Force 4 (KENQRF 4), part of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission (MONUSCO), made an extraordinary donation to the local mosque, showcasing their dedication to community engagement and religious support.

But here's where it gets controversial... or at least, it might spark some interesting discussions. The donation included practical items like carpets, solar lights, and food, but it also involved a cash contribution to revive a mosque construction project. And this is the part most people miss: the impact of such an act goes beyond the physical benefits.

During the ceremony, Lt Col Simon Seda, the Contingent Commander, emphasized the core values of Islam and the importance of living by its principles. He highlighted the act of giving as a reflection of true faith and a way to strengthen the bond between the military and the community. Seda's words resonated with the essence of Islam, reminding us that it's not just about personal devotion but also about the collective impact we can have.

"Our support today embodies the spirit of Islam. We come together, not just as soldiers, but as brothers in faith, united by our pursuit of peace and our worship of Allah," Seda said.

Maalim Ssgt Said Mohammad, the Muslim Chaplain, added his perspective, emphasizing the importance of brotherhood and unity. He called for the continued nurturing of Islamic values and moral discipline, ensuring that the community thrives with faith, respect, and service at its core.

"Islam teaches us that compassion and brotherhood are our guiding lights. By instilling these principles in our youth, we ensure the longevity of our faith and the strength of our society," Mohammad explained.

The mosque leadership and local community were deeply grateful for the donation, recognizing that it would not only complete the mosque but also improve the overall well-being of the congregation and the wider neighborhood.

So, what do you think? Is this a beautiful display of religious unity and support, or does it raise questions about the role of faith in military operations? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
